This report, published examines the institutional development, livelihood systems, governance structures, and community participation within the newly established //Gamaseb Conservancy in the Karas Region. The study profiles household demographics, income sources, natural resource use, and community engagement in conservancy activities. Key findings highlight strong community involvement, satisfaction with conservancy governance processes, limited NGO presence, and the need to enhance women’s participation. Livelihoods are dominated by livestock keeping, pensions, wages, and remittances, with natural resource harvesting contributing minimally to household income. The report identifies opportunities to strengthen conservancy benefits, diversify income-generating activities particularly through tourism and craft development and improve natural resource management to enhance local livelihoods.
