UNAM officially launched eight inaugural Research Chairs on 19 May 2025, marking a pivotal transition to a research-intensive model of national relevance. The event, held at Hilton Hotel Windhoek, celebrated distinguished scholars across fields such as Material Science, Green Technologies, Infectious Diseases, Astronomy, and One Health. Through this strategic milestone, UNAM reaffirmed its commitment to evidence-based innovation, mentorship, and knowledge production. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Kenneth Matengu and Minister Hon. Sanet Steenkamp highlighted the Chairs' transformative potential to bridge scientific inquiry with societal impact and global visibility.
