Description:
From 16–20 September 2024, the University of Namibia hosted Harvesting Sunshine: A Hands-On Workshop on Solar PV and Agrivoltaics, spotlighting the Agri-PV pilot initiative as Namibia’s first large-scale integration of photovoltaic systems in agricultural settings. Funded by GIZ and implemented in collaboration with Inceptus Energy, the project combines sustainable energy generation with crop production to promote climate-adapted, community-focused innovation. The workshop engaged MSc students, researchers, and international experts, including facilitators from the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems, and concluded with a donation of PV boxes to UNAM’s Photovoltaic Testing Lab—enhancing training, outreach, and academic–industry alignment in renewable energy.
