Description:
Lineekela Omwene T. Nauyoma, a fifth-year PhD candidate at the University of Namibia, recently represented UNAM at the International Statistical Ecology Conference (ISEC 2024), held at Swansea University in Wales, UK. Supported by a N$35,000 bursary from the International Statistical Ecology Foundation, Nauyoma presented his dissertation research on ungulate population estimation using camera traps in Mudumu National Park, applying advanced statistical ecology techniques. His paper, published in the European Journal of Wildlife Research, highlights the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and quantitative methods in biodiversity studies. Nauyoma's participation reflects the growing contributions of Namibian scholars to global ecological research and underscores UNAM’s support for transformative, data-driven inquiry in wildlife management and conservation.
