Description:
A team of third- and final-year students from the University of Namibia’s Katima Mulilo Campus recently conducted a comprehensive ecological expedition in the Zambezi State Reserve. Led by Daniel Munyanya and supported by the Department of Wildlife Management and Tourism Studies, the fieldwork employed diverse scientific methods—including Point Centered Quarter (PCQ) vegetation surveys, bird point counts, pitfall traps, and small mammal assessments—to document the region’s rich biodiversity. The expedition not only enriched students’ academic experience but also contributed valuable data for conservation planning. This initiative underscores the importance of field-based learning and the role of young scientists in safeguarding Namibia’s natural heritage.
