Description:
The University of Namibia’s School of Science has acquired Namibia’s first Liquid Chromatography–Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) instrument dedicated to teaching and research, thanks to a competitive grant from the Recycling Organisation for Research Opportunities (RORO). Valued at nearly N$2 million, the instrument was secured by a research team led by Prof. Stefan Louw and installed with training support from Dr. Giles Edwards of RORO. This state-of-the-art analytical tool will now be integrated into undergraduate and postgraduate curricula, enhancing student employability and enabling high-level research in pharmaceuticals, environmental science, forensic analysis, and more, without the need for outsourcing. The acquisition marks a major leap in Namibia’s scientific infrastructure and capacity-building efforts.
