Abstract:
The aim of the study was to analyze the impact of social media and video gaming on the student's academic performance [A study of students of University of Namibia]. To achieve this, the survey research method was used. Subjects vvere drawn from the University of Namibia, using the non-probability sampling technique and purposive sampling. Three research objectives guided the study. Research findings showed that a great number of students in University of Namibia, had access to the internet as well as access to social networking sites. A number of students also admitted to playing video games. To this end, the researcher recommended that sites should be created for educational purposes as well; this is to create a balance between social networking and academic activities of students to avoid setbacks in the academic performance of the students.
