Abstract
The purpose of this research was to investigate the impact of e-journals on academic institutions. The was a case study of the polytechnic of Namibia. The study employed a mixed methods approach using interviews and surveys to collect data. The units of analysis comprised of library staff, lecturers and students. The researcher used stratified random and purposive sampling to select participants for the study. The study employed Microsoft and excel to analyse data. The study showed that more students were unaware of e-journals because little was done to
create awareness for students. The researcher believes, through the findings of the study, the Polytechnic of Namibia can benefit from the use of some or all recommendations to improve use and access of e-journals. The main recommendation of the study is to create awareness amongst students especially
from first year levels, as they are more willing to use IT in their courses. Furthermore, the vital facilitation of e-journals can only be significant when it is facilitated by lecturers by integrating e-journals in course work.
