A critical examination of the Namibian anti-corruption legal framework

In view of recent important developments in the field, this paper was written with the intention of critically examining Namibia's legal stance on corruption. In particular, the changes brought by the Anti-Corruption Act (Act No. 8 of 2003) to the common law and to the structural make-up. Additionally, Namibia's relevant international obligations regarding corruption are considered. In consequence of perusal and consideration of the position concerned, it is found that Namibia has indeed made strides in the combating of corruption. However, it is still a concern that theNamibian legal system should not remain stagnant on this particular point but a progressive approach should be taken to the issue of corruption in the country. Moreover, more emphasis needs to be placed on prevention of the crime.
