dc.description.abstract Abstract provided by author en_US
dc.description.abstract In many African societies, such as Namibia, women are seen as right less entity under the authority of men. The Namibian constitution explicitly recognizes women's equal rights and that women and men have entirely equal rights. But most women are unaware of their fundamental rights due to lack of access to information on their human rights. This is because there are many factors that prevent women from accessing information on their rights and to practice them. This research aims to gain an understanding of how and where women get information on their legal rights, and the factors that prevent women from getting information on their rights. It will also explore the impacts of not practicing human rights. The research questions to be asked are: Where do women get information on their legal rights? What factors prevent women from getting information on their rights? What impact does not practicing legal rights have on women? This research will be qualitative and it will use non-probability sampling because data will be collected from different women in Katutura. Khomasdal, and Town and at the University of Namibia. Interviews will be conducted through using a questionnaire with close-ended and open-ended questions. I have chosen this study because since independence not every woman enjoys her legal rights due to unequal power relations and unawareness of fundamental rights. This is due to lack of access to information on legal rights and factors that prevent women from accessing that information. This study is important to women to get information on their legal rights and to practice those rights en_US
