The aim of this study was to investigate the level of job satisfaction among female journalist in both print and electronic media. This study investigated the extent to which women in media employments are satisfied with their pay, promotion, recognition opportunities for advancement and their work itself.It further identified factors, which make women leave their media employment and the new careers they take after leaving journalism. Herzberg's two-factor theory was used to measure the level of job satisfaction of women in the media. The study used quantitative research methods through Self-administered questionnaires consisting of closed ended questions for the sample size of 30 female journalists in Windhoek. The researcher used Simple stratified random sampling to choose the respondents. Data collection was conducted smoothly throughout the months June - July holiday and finally it was then analyzed manually and interpreted using tables. This study is of great importance to all those in management positions in media houses, because it provides valuable information about the factors that make female journalist dissatisfied with their jobs. It further identifies the factors that make women leave journalism. Consequently, through the provision of this information it can help those in management position to close the gender gap in that exists within this profession, which might lead to dissatisfaction. |
