dc.description.abstract Abstract by author: en_US
dc.description.abstract There are many different ways in which researchers have analyzed the effect that various media have on their audiences (Berelson, 1948). These literatures have examined the effects of cinema, the press and, especially television aggressive behavior, prejudice, sexual habits and morality. This study assess whether that the television exerts a powerful influence on the irresponsible sexual behavior and general social attitudes of the children and young people. The focus of the research is to analyze how sexually explicit material and violent content viewed on television can cause irresponsible sexual practices that can lead to rape and HIV/AIDS and other related sexual diseases. The research is going to be done in Windhoek by conducting a survey of 100 of youths, University students at the University of Namibia and other related tertiary institutions in Windhoek. This research will also examine the theoretical position of this study on the basis of how the media can be very influential and is seen as powerful medium viewing and the audiences being passive and easily manipulated. The constraints and limitations of the study and the research done will also be discussed en_US
