dc.description.abstract Abstract by author: en_US
dc.description.abstract Twelve mature, non-pregnant female sheep (mean body weight 38. 5kg) were used in a feeding trial comparing two forages of different origins. Forage A came from an unutilised natural patch of land with a mixed composition of grasses, herbs and woody shrubs. The other forage termed Forage B has its origin from a Cenchrus ciliaris cultivated pasture. Proximate analysis was carried out on both forage types and it was found that Forage A had a lower CP [crude protein] (8. 34 percent) content and a higher CF [crude fibre] (38. 87 percent) content than Forage B, which had 12. 74 percent CP and 29. 38 percent CF. However, statistical analysis with Anova single factor analysis, showed that the VI [voluntary intake] of the two forages were not significantly different (p - value of 0. 01) en_US
