dc.description This study that examines the socio‑economic situation of the Oshakati/Ondangwa area within the Ovambo region. The study combines a household survey, business survey, and informal interviews conducted by the Namibia Institute for Social and Economic Research (NISER) in April–May 1990. It aims to clarify the socio‑economic conditions in which residents live by integrating historical, demographic, and survey data. The report focuses on themes such as household socio‑economic conditions, differences between urban, peri‑urban, and rural areas, gender‑based economic differences, and challenges affecting the area during the post‑independence period. These themes are analyzed alongside demographic variables like dwelling type, income, crop production, age, employment status, and gender to determine factors influencing respondents’ experiences. en_US
