This paper presents research findings from the Tsiseb and Sorris‑Sorris conservancies in Namibia, focusing on the types of participation and the actors involved in conservancy governance and activities. It provides an overview of the national conservancy programme and its legislative foundations, profiles the geographical, environmental, social, and institutional characteristics of the two conservancies, and analyses patterns of stakeholder involvement. The study explores how different forms of participation influence conservancy outcomes and expectations regarding sustainable resource use. It also examines examples of community‑based and joint‑venture initiatives, including the Daureb Mountain Guides Association, the Brandberg White Lady Lodge, and African Hunting Safaris. |
