dc.description In early April 2024, the University of Namibia (UNAM), through its UNAM Cares initiative, launched the One Health Community Engagement Project in Tsumkwe Constituency, Otjozondjupa Region, in partnership with the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut (FLI). Spearheaded by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kenneth Kamwi Matengu and Dr. Rachel Freeman, the initiative adopts a holistic One Health approach, integrating human, animal, plant, and environmental health. The project aims to address health disparities in marginalized communities through participatory research, culturally sensitive interventions, and collaborative education. With a focus on diseases like rabies and hepatitis, the initiative seeks to build long-term health resilience and sustainable service delivery in remote areas. en_US
