Description:
This report presents an assessment of conservancy management capabilities across five key areas: Governance, Natural Resource Management (NRM), Conservancy Management, Financial Sustainability, and Benefit Distribution. Findings show that Uibasen and //Gamaseb Conservancies perform strongly in governance, largely due to their smaller populations, which facilitates participation and coordination. Uibasen also ranks highest in NRM and general management, while Nyae Nyae performs well in management but remains weak in NRM. Financial sustainability and benefit distribution are strongest among older conservancies such as Nyae Nyae and Uibasen, which have established income-generating activities. Emerging conservancies Uukolonkadhi, Spitzkoppe, and Shamungwa show promising governance performance, though they lack financial sustainability and benefit distribution systems as they are not yet generating income.
