The study was aimed at determining the career preferences of Media studies students at their fourth year level. The purpose of this was to ascertain the career expectations of media students and to make recommendations for specific issues to be addressed concerning career guidance and choices of students
The results of the study will emerged out of a quantitative study based on guidance and career development theory. Face-to-face interviews were conducted with career guidance teachers at four selected schools in Windhoek and students were selected at random at Unam to complete questionnaires. This has been carried out around campus and in between lecture hours with the permission of the students and lecturers
The study identified courses that students thought they need further training and what subjects they regard as the most important in the curriculum including the career paths preferred by the target subjects
