The topic discussed in this research paper is an investigation of information needs and availability of information for learners with special education needs at Eluwa special school in Ongwediva
Eluwa is a special school situated in Ongwediva, northern Namibia in Oshana region educating learners with hearing and visually impairment
Fair amounts of research have been done in various fields related to disabilities,without particular reference to the information needs. The study aim was primarily to find out the level of satisfaction of availability of information and investigate information needs for learners with special education needs
Quantitative method was utilized for data collection and key informants were also used in the collection of data. The first chapter gives a brief introduction and background information on disabilities and an overview of accessibility of information. The following chapter mainly concentrates on providing a theoretical framework by focusing on previous information. This section reviews existing literature about the study
Chapter three outlines the research process, from the methods that were utilized to the actual data collection process and how the data collected was analyzed
The findings of the study are briefly then discussed before recommendations and conclusion, which among of other things include the improvements on the information available for learners with special education needs, were suggested. The results show that the learners do not only need information but also the improvement on the information sources, which are already existed at school
