dc.description.abstract Abstract by author: en_US
dc.description.abstract The objective of this study was to determine the nutritive value of selected Acacia species leaves and pods namely: Acacia erubescence, Acacia fleckii and Acacia tortilis as well as grasses. The samples were collected from three different sites: riverside, inland and mountain. Proximate composition and metabolisable energy (ME) was recorded. The leaves and pods of Acacia fleckii had higher crude protein content. The mean value of Acacia leaves collected along the river was significantly higher (p0. 05) in CP and CF content than those collected from the other location. The mean values of CF and NFE of Acacia pods was very highly significant (p0. 001). The CP content of grasses collected from mountain was significantly high than the others collected from the other locations. The results of this study have indicated that A. fleckii and A. tortiliis leaves and pod collected along the river have a high feeding value en_US
