dc.description.abstract Abstract provided by author: en_US
dc.description.abstract The HESS-Collaboration runs in Namibia a system of 4 imaging Cherenkov-Telescopes, which detect Cherenkov-Light from air showers, induced by cosmic ray particles. A drive concept was developped for the telescopes using components coming from automotive industry, accounting for the demands of such a telescope regarding tracking accuracy and operating safety. The tracking accuracy reached ist D (Elv) = 0. 9''$ and D (Azm) = 1. 9''. As calibration method for the whole detector, the calibration using muon-rings was implemented, that can reconstruct the efficiency of the detector, defined as ratio of measured photoelectrons to received photons, with an accuracy of 2 percent. The use of that method to monitor the data quality of HESS is demonstrated. The supernova remnant RX J1713. 7-3946 is examined with the first two system telescopes for gamma-radiation, which has been reported before by the CANGAROO-Collaboration. The gamma-emission from that object can be detected with a significance of 20 sigma, the integral flux above an energy of 1 TeV is Phi = 6. 1+/-0. 3 (stat) +/-1. 3 (sys) 10 en_US
