dc.description.abstract This study was conducted among employees at the City of Windhoek, Namibia. The aim of the study was to find out on how information flows, handled and also how knowledge was managed at the municipality of Windhoek. The focus group was employees from different departments within the municipality. An availability sampling method was used to collect data from this group. The study found that the factors that affect the information flow and knowledge management at the municipality are: (a) Top-down approach practiced at the municipality, (b) communication breakdown that is mainly headed by influences like personal attitudes, status consciousness and (c) political issues. The study also found that the municipality has a problem of lack of staff, hence there is work overload. Appointing extra employees is a problem due to lack of finance. The same applies to specialist being appointed, no money to pay them. Most of the Information Systems need to be updated and new software to carry out certain tasks, needs to be purchased. Therefore there is a need to improve all these areas, and top management should try and change their behaviors and attitudes towards the lower management. Most importantly, there is a great need for the integration of cultural differences and that the City of Windhoek does away with outdated policies and adopt new and better policies en_US
