dc.description This report provides an overview of the North Central Community‑Based Natural Resource Management and Enterprise Development (NCCED) Project, a collaborative initiative between the Rössing Foundation and the Namibia Community-Based Tourism Association (NACOBTA), funded by the UK Department for International Development – Southern Africa (DFID‑SA). The project aims to reduce rural poverty in the north‑central regions of Oshana, Omusati, Ohangwena, and Oshikoto by expanding livelihood opportunities derived from community-based natural resource management (CBNRM), tourism, and craft enterprise development. Working primarily in the King Nehale Resource Area (KNRA) and Uukwaluundhi in western Omusati, the project seeks to strengthen the managerial and entrepreneurial capacities of rural communities, supporting sustainable resource use and income generation. The NCCED initiative is structured around four principal outputs: developing sustainable CBNRM initiatives; building institutional and management capacity; increasing income and employment from crafts; and expanding tourism‑related economic opportunities. The project emphasises the importance of reliable baseline data, establishing community‑driven monitoring and evaluation systems to track progress, assess impacts, and guide adaptive management. en_US
