From 2–4 June 2025, UNAM’s School of Nursing & Public Health, in partnership with Idaho State University (ISU), launched the Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) and Helping Baby Breathe (HBB) training in Outapi, Omusati Region. Targeting midwives from district hospitals and 24-hour health centres, the initiative strengthens emergency maternal and newborn care capabilities in northern Namibia. Simulation equipment, donated by Dr. Rebecca Kinney and the Beckon Foundation, enriched hands-on training. With support from national health officials and regional leaders, the programme marks a vital step toward achieving global maternal health targets and transforming frontline care.
