Description:
Namibia hosted the first-ever H.E.S.S. Software School in December 2024, a major milestone for high-energy astrophysics training across Africa. Organized by UNAM’s astro sub-group with support from the CNRS-University Cooperation Research Programme, the initiative brought together 32 participants from five countries for advanced workshops on gamma-ray astronomy data analysis using GammaPy. With hands-on training, expert lectures, and observatory visits including the H.E.S.S. telescopes and the Cuno Hoffmeister Memorial Observatory, the school equipped young scientists to lead in global research, spotlighting Namibia’s key role in the astrophysics frontier.
