dc.description UNAM PhD student Eva Kasinda was awarded Best Overall Presenter at the 2024 SAWMA Conference, hosted for the first time outside South Africa, in Windhoek. Her winning speed presentation addressed the impact of fire seasonality on tree density at the Makambu Fire Experimental Site in Kavango West—a project under the long-term fire ecology study led by Dr. Ezequiel Fabiano. With 120 presentations from 15 European and 9 African countries, Kasinda stood out for her clarity and scientific insight, earning an Echo Meter Touch 2 Bat Detector as her prize. Her achievement highlights Namibia’s growing role in regional conservation research. en_US
