This study surveyed the perceptions of women journalists as regards gender equality in the media in Namibia. The aim of the study was to understand how women in media viewed their status in the media in relation to the structures, employment, training and promotion opportunities. The study investigated the attitudes of women and men towards gender in the media in Namibia. It also examined the legal, political, and economic constraints which women faced in their daily operations as journalists. It further examined the training and promotion opportunities, which were made available to women journalists in their careers, and it looked at the influence of socio-cultural factors on gender relations in the media. It was found that women faced varied problems in their operations, which affected their rise to senior and management positions in the media. On the basis of the findings it is clear that there is gender discrimination against women in the media. The study also found that women lacked the unity of purpose, which is required to help them overcome some of the discriminations that they face as women
